Greenlandic geologist and from 2000 professor of geology at the University of Copenhagen. Minik Rosing was educated in Denmark and the USA and has participated in the geological exploration of Greenland. He has presented an explanation of the formation environment of the oldest sediments on Earth, found in Isua NE of Nuuk. During the work, he demonstrated chemical traces of the date oldest known life on Earth, which caused an international sensation; tracks is 3.8 billion. years old. In samples from Isua, he has also shown that CO2 levels on Earth 3.8 billion. years ago was great as today. In so doing, he refuted the theory that the Earth then kept the heat using an extreme greenhouse effect.
In 2001, Minik Rosing recieved Ebbe Munck's award and the Greenland Merit Nersornaat in silver. In 2008 he was awarded the Danish Geology Prize for his pioneering work at Isua. In 2006 he was expedition leader on the Galathea 3 expedition, and in 2010 he contributed include to the large three-volume From where we stand - Denmark in Transition with an essay on the geology of Denmark.
Daniel Richter was born in 1962 in Eutin, Germany, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Hamburg, from 1991-95. In recent years, through a number of significant museum and gallery exhibitions, Richter has cemented his position as one of the leading artists of his generation, both in Europe and the USA. He works with a figurative painting in which the figures, often painted using an intense colour palette, possess an ethereal, ghostly quality. His works typically draw their inspiration from current events in particular geographical flashpoints. Daniel Richter has exhibited and is represented in a long list of museums around the world, including K21 in Dusseldorf, Hamburg Kunsthalle, Denver Art Museum, the Pompidou Centre in Paris, and MoMA, New York.
